Expert Business Development (EBD) began in 1993 by providing sales process design, implementation and training to banks and financial service companies. Early on, it became evident that the biggest challenge facing our clients was the amount of time it takes to generate new, qualified customer leads to fill their pipeline. Consequently, we developed a professional calling program to generate those leads for our clients. Over the past 30 years, and through millions of phone calls, we have mastered this process for not only our bank clients, but any company that is looking to build valuable relationships.

Today, EBD provides firms across the country in many industries with outsourced lead generation, relationship building and appointment setting services. We work with a variety of organizations, including community/regional banks, credit unions, security firms, investment firms, consultants, insurance companies, risk management, marketing firms and healthcare. Our smallest client has a sales force of one, and our largest clients have sales teams numbering in the hundreds. They all seek qualified leads with high-value, relationship-oriented prospects that want to hear their story.

The most significant differentiators that set us apart from telemarketing firms are the experience and talent of our agents and how completely integrated we become with our clients. Our agents are the driving force behind EBD's product offering as they execute all prospect calls on our clients' behalf. Each with decades of professional experience, these are mature, articulate and accomplished individuals. Among the group are MBAs, CPAs, Bankers, Entrepreneurs, Recruiters and other professionals, all with extensive sales experience.

Because we do not use a call center, we can attract the most talented calling professionals from across the country to work remotely from the comfort of their home offices. As a result, we are consistently able to provide our clients with a 'local' presence for their marketing campaigns.

Truly successful practitioners of business development, especially in the world of high-value, relationship-oriented business, almost always use a concept that we call Respectful Persistence™. This subtle skill strikes a delicate balance between diligently pursuing a prospect and always maintaining a high level of respect for their boundaries and wishes.

A significant part of the training that is integral to our agents' preparation focuses on Respectful Persistence™. We teach our agents how to use each contact with the prospect as a way to underscore how important, satisfying and appropriate a relationship between our client and the prospect would be. At the same time, we measure and allow for the wishes of the prospect for time and space between contacts or interactions. This process requires that our agents have a high degree of listening skills, sensitivity and judgment while still being able to be assertive in pursuing an appointment with the prospect. The real key to achieving this state of balance is to be able to quickly engage the prospect on an emotional level and build rapport and trust. When this happens, the prospect is much more likely to let down his or her guard and truly connect with and "get the message" from our agent.

Equally important is the follow-up process. Having the tools to track and manage the follow-up actions is critically important as is the discipline to crisply execute the plan for follow-up.
